Frequently Asked Questions
These are some common questions we're getting, but if you are looking for more information, let us know!
I hear CrossFit is hard. Should I wait till I'm "in shape" to start?
Absolutely not! There isn't really a way to prepare for what we do besides, well... doing what we do. Our mission is to see you succeed, regardless of where you're starting from.
What are classes like?
A typical CrossFit class is going to include what we lovingly refer to as the Workout of the Day, or WOD. Every affiliate is different, and we're no exception. Some days we will have more of a strength focus, some days it will be mobility, and some days it will be conditioning. Most days are a combination of two or more elements. All classes are kept to an hour.
Can I drop-in to try a class first?
Would you drop-in to a college algebra class to see if you liked it first? Dropping into a class removes the context of the program. You won't really get a good idea of what we do by coming to a single class in the middle of a cycle. Additionally, by allowing walk-ins, our attention is diverted away from our students, which isn't fair to them. Our free intro session is designed to introduce you to our program, and to experience what a typical class might be like. It also allows us to focus all of our attention on your questions and concerns.
Do I have to go through an on-ramp or foundations course?
That depends. We divide our classes by experience and skill level, and do have an entry-level program intended for people new to CrossFit. We take those classes a bit more slowly, ensuring everyone has a thorough understanding of what's going on, the movements being presented, etc. If during your intro session it seems you might do well with more focused instruction, we might ask you to schedule several one-on-one sessions prior to joining the regular group classes.
How long before I start seeing results?
This is really up to you, and it's difficult to answer unless we know what results you want to see. It's important to mention, this isn't a short-term bootcamp, and we don't measure progress in days and weeks. Rather, we measure progress in months and years. But again, understanding your individual goals is an important piece of the success puzzle. All of our members receive quarterly, one-on-one goal setting and check-in sessions designed to keep you on track.
How much does it cost?
This is not your $30 per month membership at the corporate globo-gym. What we offer is much more akin to personal training, but, notably, at a fraction of the cost. We are educators first, which means that we go above and beyond "training" and truly coach our members, treating them like students and athletes. Our mission is to provide you with the knowledge and skill necessary to create lifelong health and fitness. Your tuition is determined largely by your frequency of training and level of commitment, and our packages range from $135/mo. to $215/mo.
